In his diverse career, Alexander has excelled as a political commentator for major national dailies, a cultural critic, academic and a social researcher. A constant thread through his career has been his desire to understand people, their motivations and their relationships. His working life has been committed to progressive social projects like the bringing and strengthening of democracy and civil society in the Balkans; fighting for social justice for marginalised groups both in Australia and Europe, and producing and transferring knowledge to disadvantaged groups thus empowering them to take control of their destinies.
Given his entrepreneurial and adventurous spirit, Alex decided to embark on a new and exciting business project in 2002. His research and analytical skills benefited him immensely in breaking the high knowledge barriers to entry into the Australian ATM industry. Now, seven years later, he and Mark are very content that they have created a small , resilient and successful ATM company with a distinct identity catering to a lucrative market niche in a very tough and competitive market.
Alex's main responsibilities in the company involve market research, business planning, development of business systems and standardisation of operations, email and Internet marketing, website development and maintenance, and search engine optimisation.
Alex strongly believes that the pursuit of profit goes hand in hand with being a socially responsible corporate citizen. He holds an MA in political science from the University of Ljubljana (1992) and a PhD in international relations from the Australian National University (1998). For his leadership and contribution to research he has been awarded twice an Adjunct Research Fellowship by the University of New South Wales.
